There are lots of people from TAFE at Tom's party and some people that Jo doesn’t know.

Carly’s supervisor, Mrs Tait, is also at the party. She says hello and Carly replies in a formal manner, which would be the right thing to do if they were at work.

But because the party is a social occasion, Carly’s supervisor wants to be casual. She does not want to be called by her surname, which Carly calls her at work.
